Last night that all ended. Her water broke at about 9:30. By 10:30 she was contracting every 5 minutes or so, so we left the in-laws with the munchkins (they came into town on Wednesday) and got to the hospital.
We arrived at about 11:30. The nurses weren't expecting us to arrive until morning, so we had to wait a few minutes while they finished cleaning up the room. I don't think they believed us when we told them how short her previous labors had been (9 hrs and 3 hrs). Sure enough, by 1:30 or so her contractions were getting really intense and she wanted that epideral. The nurses were shocked, got the midwife, and found her at just under 10 cm. It was too late for the epideral. Right before 2, they called her at 10 cm. She was really not having fun and wasn't sure if she could tough it out. Of course, there was really no choice in the matter so on she went. And at 2:10 am, our new addition arrived.

Welcome aboard, Liev Nikolai! He came in at 6 lbs, 11 oz and 18.5 inches. He's a little guy but we're happy to have him. :)

Mom was very impressed with herself for going full natural this time. I was impressed too. Great job!

Sibylla liked her new little brother immediately.

Vasili wasn't as impressed. No doubt that will change.
