Dinner Out

Last night was our dinner out in the burbs. We took the metro out a way, then a bus, and got to our destination.

Apparently folks out here make their own wine to sell in the restaurants. This is the garden out back of ours.

The wine leaves something to be desired though. They had both red and white, barely palatable. They long ago decided a cure for that, though: they serve the wine mixed with sparkling water, making a spritzer. The wait staff bring out separate carafes with wine and water, and you mix it yourself. You wouldn't think it, but adding the water improved the wine considerably.

Dinner was good. The only bad part was the entertainment. There was a violinist present, as well as his sidekick on an accordion. That in and of itself wouldn't be so bad, but they sat down right next to out table and played quite loudly. Even that would be tolerable, but the violinist's intonation was a bit off....and they were playing Mozart. Mozart! On an Accordion! Oh, the humanity!!!

Then came the real kicker. One of the ladies in our group wanted me to give them a 2 Euro coin as a tip, so I did. They were VERY pleased. The accordion guy was so happy, he decided to serenade me. Dude practically jumped into my lap! So there I am, getting pushed out of my seat while this guy's playing his accordion literally right in my face. Jessica, the lady who really gave the tip, thought it was hilarious, all the more so because despite my best efforts, they never did get the picture of who the tip was from. Ok, I thought it was funny too. After they left.

We ended up staying until closing. Derek, another of our group, obtained bottle after bottle of wine and ensured that no one's glass emptied. We ended up getting taxis back to the hotel. Suffice it to say that it was a VERY amusing evening. We didn't get in until 2 or so, if that tells you anything.

We're out in the country today. More to follow.
